About the safari zones –
The vast spread for Ranthambore National Park is divided into 10 safari zones for ease of management of the tourism activity in the reserve as well as to make sure the safari is evenly distributed throughout the jungle. You cannot choose your desired zone as the zones are randomly allotted by the computers just before the entry without any external interference. The safari vehicles, the jeep and the canter travel on the same route offering entirely the same prospects of wildlife sighting. Every safari will take you to the core areas of the respective zones to let you witness the tiger and other wildlife species.

Zone 1 is the territory of a few of the most popular tigers of Ranthambore that includes Sultan (T-72), Ustad (t-24), and Noor (T-39). In this safari route, Tuti ka Nalla, Sultanpur, Gada Dub, Amreshwar Dang, and Peela Pani are the places where there are higher chances to spot big cats. With the increased number of tiger sighting in Zone 2, it is considered as the best zone for tourists. Due to its several water holes, the chances of tiger sighting gets higher around the places like Nal Ghati, Phuta Kot, Jhalra, Jogi Mahal, Phuta Bandha, and Lahpur Tiraha. Zone 3 is one of the most popular lakes in Ranthambore National Park; Padam Talab makes it one of the prime zones to get a sight of tigers. Home to the legendary tiger Machli lives in Zone 4 of Ranthambore and thus it was the most preferred zone before her death.

The star attractions of Zone 5 are T-17, T-25, T-28, and T-75 which are more commonly sighted at Kachida Valley, Singh Dwar, Anatpur, Jokha, baghda, and Dhakda. Zone 6 to 10 are included in the tiger reserve territory much later, so the entry gates of these zones are located far away from the entry gates of zone 1-5. In order to reach there, the jeep or canter safari has to go through the old city of Sawai Madhopur. The Jeep Safari is allowed to all the zones while canter safari is not allowed in the 7, 8, and 10 zones due to hilly track and steep turns and climbs.

All these zones of Ranthambore National Park are considered as best, no zone is good or bad. All the zones offer you an equal opportunity to explore the forest. Though some zones are known for better tiger sightseeing experience but spotting a tiger in the reserve is a matter of luck. So, one may not get the tiger even in the best zone and one can sometimes easily spot a tiger in any zones of Ranthambore Jungle Safari.
